Guardian spirit of a ship.

     Many Thais believe that all boats have a female guardian spirit and her place is at the bow of the boat. She is the spirit that brings good and bad luck, depending on how everybody on the boat treats her.

     Many fisherman believe that the guardian spirit of the boat has the ability to make the trip safe and help them to catch a lot of fish. Before the boat leaves the pier, the fishermen will put some fruits, desserts, chicken or pork, drinks, flowers and 9 sticks of incense at the bow of the boat to pay homage to the guardian spirit of the ship.
    
     For our boats MQ I and MQ II we do the same and we burn firecrackers before the boat leaves the pier to let the guardian spirit of the ship knows that the trip start now. We also tell people when we do a boat briefing that they should not stand at the bow of the boat because it is a holy place.

     As a tourist you don't have to believe but you can show respect by not going to sit or stand at the holy place. Khao Lak Scuba Adventures wish you have a good trip.

Once is not enough.

        I'm Dutch and I love diving. I'm in Khao Lak to dive with Khao Lak Scuba Adventures for the 2nd time now. I like diving with this company so much because the staff are very nice and friendly. The boat crews are very helpful and care a lot for the safety of the customers. I was in a group with the Thai Divemaster called Tik. He has very good eyes for small and camouflaged aquatic animals and he is a very good divemaster. I felt very save and fun diving with him. The dive guides on the boat give very good dive briefings with fantastic maps that they draw themselves.
    
       The cooks on the boat are very good. They cook a variety of dishes, which are tasty and there is always enough for everyone. We have never been hungry on this boat. The cooks do very good job, making sure the food is ready when we get back from diving.
    
       On my first trip with Khao Lak Scuba Adventures on Manta Queen I in 2009, I saw Mantas. It was a very pleasant trip, which is why I'm back again to dive with them in 2010.

Underwater Dancing Queen.

     What is your favorite marine life? Hard to tell because I like almost everything I see while I dive. It's easier to tell what I don't like because there are very few of them, for example sea snakes or the worms who come to the light when I do night dive.
     Seagrass Ghost Pipefish is one of the animals I like very much. They can makes me excited every time I see them. This animal also known as Robust ghost pipefish. They have the ability to camouflage themselves among sea grass by changing their colors to green, but they can be brown and gray too, it's not so easy to spot them. They can grow to a maximum length of 15 cm, this species feeds on small crustaceans.
     Of the time I seeing them, it's because of the coincidence or luck. And after I dive the same dive site a lot I look for them in the same place, I will see them again. I believe they have short life span because they are there for a few weeks and disappear, many months later you see them back at the same place and then they disappear again.
     They hover close to the bottom with their head pointing down, most of the time in pairs, they must be male and female(not sure), can be male and male too, like humans :-) I like it very much when I see them in shallow water and we have small wave, they move with the waves, it looks like they are dancing.
     Look for them or ask your dive guide about them when you go diving with Khao Lak Scuba Adventures at the Similan.

      การเรียนทฤษฎีในห้องเรียน นักเรียนดำน้ำจะได้เรียนรู้ในเรื่องของทฤษฎีการดำน้ำเบื้องต้น รุ้จักอุปกรณ์ที่ใช้ในการดำน้ำ กฎระเบียบต่างๆ ที่เกี่ยวกับความปลอดภัย การใช้ตารางดำน้ำ ฯลฯ ซึ่งจะมีทั้งหมด 5 บทด้วยกัน
     การฝึกทักษะในสระน้ำ นักเรียนดำน้ำจะได้รับการฝึกทักษะต่างๆ ที่ใช้ในการดำน้ำ ฝึกการใช้อุปกรณ์ต่างๆ เพื่อให้นักเรียนได้มีความคุ้นเคยก่อนการลงดำน้ำในสถานที่จริง
     การ ฝึกทักษะในทะเล นักเรียนดำน้ำจะได้ลงดำน้ำในทะเล ซึ่งในหลักสูตรจะนำทักษะที่ฝึกในสระว่ายน้ำจนชำนาญแล้ว มาฝึกซ้ำในทะเลอีกครั้ง เพื่อเพิ่มความคล่องแคล่ว และชำนาญในการแก้ปัญหาที่เกิดขึ้นขณะดำน้ำให้แก่นักเรียนดำน้ำ โดยจะทำการฝึกทั้งหมด 4 ครั้ง(ดำน้ำวันละ 2 ครั้งเป็นเวลา 2 วัน)ระยะ เวลาของหลักสูตร ประมาณ 4 วัน อาจจะเร็วหรือช้ากว่านี้ ขึ้นกับเวลาและพร้อมของผู้เรียน จำนวนนักเรียนในแต่ละหลักสูตรจะใช้ครู 1 คน ต่อนักเรียน 4 คน

     เวลาในการเรียนจะแบ่งเป็นดังนี้
- การเรียนรู้ในห้องเรียน ดูวีดีโอ ผู้สอนให้คำแนะนำและอธิบายบทเรียน ใช้เวลา 1วัน
- ฝึกทักษะในสระว่ายน้ำ ผู้สอนแนะนำการใช้อุปกรณ์ และฝึกทักษะต่างๆ ที่จำเป็น ในสระว่ายน้ำ ใช้เวลา 1 วัน
- ฝึกทักษะในทะเล ใช้เวลา 2 วัน (ดำน้ำวันละ 2ครั้ง)

     คุณสมบัติ ของผู้ที่มาเรียนดำน้ำ
เป็นผู้ที่มีสุขภาพแข็งแรง อายุไม่ต่ำกว่า10 ปี ไม่มีโรคประจำตัวร้ายแรงที่ขัดต่อการดำน้ำ ว่ายน้ำเป็น แต่ไม่จำเป็นต้องว่ายน้ำเก่ง

     โปรแกรมการเรียน
- ทดสอบว่ายน้ำและการลอยตัว ในสระว่ายน้ำ
- เรียนรู้ทฤษฎีในห้องเรียน(มีวีดีโอประกอบการเรียน) 5 บทเรียน
- ฝึกปฏิบัติทักษะ ที่สระว่ายน้ำ 4 บทเรียน
- ฝึกปฏิบัติทักษะ ในทะเล 2 วัน ( 4 ครั้ง)
- ทำข้อสอบทบทวนความเข้าใจในบทเรียน (คะแนนต้องไม่ต่ำกว่า 75 เปอร์เซนต์)

     ประโยชน์ ที่ผู้เรียนจะได้รับ
- ได้รับประกาศนียบัตร หรือบัตรประจำตัวนักดำน้ำสากล ที่สามารถนำไปใช้ในการท่องเที่ยวดำน้ำได้ทั่วโลก
- เรียนรู้วิธีการดำน้ำเบื้องต้น และการใช้อุปกรณ์ดำน้ำอย่างถูกวิธี โดยใช้หลักพื้นฐานของวิชาฟิสิกส์เบื้องต้น
- เรียนรู้สภาพธรรมชาติของท้องทะเล รวมถึงได้ศึกษาชีวิตสัตว์ใต้ท้องทะเล ได้ลงไปชมทัศนียภาพใต้น้ำ ตามที่ต้องการอย่างถูกต้อง ด้วยความรู้ความเข้าใจและความปลอดภัยสูงสุด
- ได้รับประสบการณ์ที่แปลกใหม่ และรู้จักเพื่อนใหม่
- สามารถใช้เป็นทางเลือกในการเรียนดำน้ำขั้นสูง เพื่อนำไปประกอบอาชีพด้านการท่องเที่ยวดำน้ำ
- สามารถนำไปเป็นพื้นฐานการศึกษา หรือแนวทางการประกอบอาชีพในลักษณะ ของการทำงานใต้น้ำ(Commercial Diver) ซึ่งเป็นอาชีพที่ตลาดแรงงานซึ่งโลกต้องการเป็นอย่างมาก
